Breast Augmentation

Breast Implants

Deciding to seek information on breast augmentation is a very personal decision in one's life. Breast Augmentation has been shown to have benefits such as boosting self-esteem in women who were not blessed with large breasts, and for those who have gone through major life traumas such as car accidents and breast cancer.

When making this type of decision, the patient needs to be informed about possible choices for their medical doctor, and what type of breast augmentation services are available. In order to decide on a physician who will work for you, you will need to research patient reviews. Additionally, when meeting with the doctor for the first time, make sure to ask questions such as; how long have you been practicing medicine? How many of these procedures have you performed? Do you have any former patients who are willing to discuss their experience with me?

Your physician will also make recommendations for the procedure, such as size and type, and location, based upon your requests and desired results. There are two types of breast implants available, silicone and saline, and the pros and cons of each will be discussed during your doctor visits. Regarding location, the decision will need to be made whether to place the implants above or below the pectoral muscles.

breast augmentation before and after

When breast augmentation first became popular many years ago, the procedure would leave a long thin scar just under the breast tissue. Today, scars resulting from breast augmentation surgery are very minimal, and rarely noticeable to another party. The procedures have evolved, and now doctors are able to insert breast implants through small slits in the fold of the arm pit, a small incision in the navel, and even though a tiny incision around the nipple that is not noticeable once healed. The naval and arm pit procedures are widely used when younger women seek out the procedure, this is because the doctor doesn't have a need to cut much skin in a younger woman. It is also important to note that when choosing the naval area method, only saline implants can be utilized.

Recovery from breast augmentation is fairly easy, within a few days patients can normally return to work and their normal daily activities, although it may take up to a few months for patients to return to their normal fitness routines. Patients need to be certain to follow the advice of their physician upon release from the hospital.
